Team Play Basics
Team play is about the good of the team. The goal is to get as many players of your team to the final
table as possible and then to get the best finishes and points.
You may have to fold some good hands if it means it will help to build a teammates stack, especially if
you have a big stack yourself or if a teammate makes a big bet in front of you.
If you are in a hand with only teammates just check the hand down unless you are trying to help the
lowest stacked teammate who should nearly always min-raise unless all are nearly evenly stacked.
If a teammate makes a big raise, that is a signal that he or she has a good hand and that you should
fold your hand regardless of your holdings.
If you are low on chips and are in a hand with only a big stacked teammate and he or she raises but
not enough to put you all in, this is a sign he or she is trying to help you and you should raise.
When a teammate limps before you or has only 1 blind remaining and you have a monster hand a bet
by you is expected and is perfectly fine.
If you play passively (limp call when you play) it does not inform your teammates of the strength of
your hand so be prepared for a teammate to push off the blinds with a strong hand.
If a teammate is on the point bubble, has nearly blinded out and is running down the clock to try to
make points this may be a good time to run down your clock to help your teammate.
No 2 players have the exact same experience, style or profile. Try to avoid judging or second guessing
a teammate's decision whenever possible. We all sometimes make a bad read or decision, get a bad
beat, get sucked out or get caught bluffing.
